The Tourism Block comprising of 13 Hectares with easy contour, some flats with the majority sloping land currently planted in mature pine trees due to be harvested in summer 2019. The Mangawharariki River, a tributary of the Rangitikei River, forms the boundary and has lovely swimming holes in a tranquil setting.
The Farmstay business has been operating for 20 years, and has proven very popular and successful. It is supported by an active website www.mthuia.co.nz
and listings on key tourism websites, as well as ranking highly on Trip Advisor, Google and Facebook.
A refurbishment of the facilities in 2017, along with development of the new website and a concentrated marketing campaign using social media resulted in a net income more than double what it had been previously. By offering extra catering and other added value there is significant potential to grow the business further.
The Hodd Cottage dwelling is a 3 bedroom house, currently used as self-contained accommodation for farm holiday guests visiting for the Mt Huia Farmstay experience. It was totally refurbished in 2017 and a shower room added to provide 2+ bathroom spaces. It has a kitchen diner that leads onto a north-facing deck, sitting room with open fire, and separate laundry.
The 188sqm house is constructed with native timbers. Existing ceiling insulation was supplemented with under-floor insulation before the winter of 2018. It has a triple garage with concrete floor and roller doors.
Heating is from Eco-Panels in every room, as well as an open fire in the sitting room.
There is a small garden, and chook house in the adjacent paddock.
