Renowned for its laid back culture, world class white sand surf beaches, fishing, wineries and as a strong centre for horticulture, and agriculture. Gisborne horticulture includes grapes, apples, kiwifruit, passionfruit and blueberries, and citrus.
The regions other strengths include farming, forestry and fishing. With its own sheltered river port Gisborne hosts ships, cruise ships and fishing vessels enabling it to provide a vital trade link.
